Founded in 2020 by Ar. Lo Chang Yong, FloodAsia brings together architectural expertise and practical flood-management experience. Prior to establishing FloodAsia, he was involved in managing Sponge City masterplans while working with French architectural practice SUD Architectes in Shanghai.
He subsequently established FloodAsia in Malaysia as a consultancy focused on flood management. Combining architectural know-how with hands-on experience, FloodAsia works closely with multiple manufacturers to develop and deliver solutions tailored to the specific requirements of each project, site, and flood-risk condition.
Our consultancy takes a holistic approach to flood management, using flood barriers as the initial line of defence to prevent floodwater from entering vulnerable areas.
Beyond physical protection, we develop site-specific flood response protocols and deployment procedures, ensuring that subsequent measures can be implemented systematically and effectively when a flood event occurs.
In 2025, we expanded our role as a specialist flood protection provider, supplying flood barrier systems to government agencies, PETRONAS and other Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) across Malaysia.
Building on this deployment experience, we have subsequently strengthened our advisory and consultancy capabilities, working more closely with local authorities to develop practical flood management strategies, protocols and response systems tailored to their operational needs.
The International Flood & Disaster Research Center (IFDRC) reached out to us through conferences and technical knowledge-sharing initiatives, providing valuable insights and expertise in flood management. In 2026, this collaboration further strengthened our technical know-how and expanded our understanding of comprehensive flood management, enabling us to move beyond flood barrier deployment towards a more holistic approach to flood preparedness, mitigation, response and long-term resilience.
Partnering with SKB, the industry’s specialist in flood shutters, FloodAsia serves as an official dealer for flood protection projects. This partnership further strengthens our capabilities in delivering comprehensive flood protection infrastructure, complemented by a range of specialised flood management and protection products.
